The 3 Person Open was a success and I would like to extend my thanks to the maintenance crew. They did a great job of keeping the course conditioned during the hot weather of the tournament.
Ben and his staff did a fantastic job of running the tournament and making sure everything ran smoothly. Thank you to the volunteers that helped at the tent and who directed traffic. With fall fast approaching and football and hunting season upon us don’t forget about getting in a round before the game.
We will be core aerating the greens September 14 using a small 3/8 tine. Recovery should be quick this time of year. This aerification not only relieves compaction and allows the greens to breath, it helps move the sodium build up from irrigation and to lengthen root mass that was lost during excessive heat.
We will be over seeding the fairways, greens surrounds and tees at the end of the month. Overseeding the fairways will give us a nicer fairway surface during the winter and early spring than dormant Bermuda. In preparation we will aerify, top dress and fertilize the fairways. After the seed goes down, we will be watering the fairways through out the day until the seed germinates. Irrigation will be on a program so please be aware that water may come on near you.
We will also have to restrict cart traffic to “Cart Path Only” until the winter grass gets established.
